The red Madxa (pronounced ‘madsja’) comes from grapes from the Dão and Alentejo. Combining different wine-growing areas is becoming a trend although it was already normal to do so before the creation of the controlled areas of origin.
Alexandre Relvas, the young Bordeaux-trained winemaker combines the freshness and elegance of the Dão with the ripeness and thickness of Alentejo wines. The result is a mix of the grape alicante bouschet, aragonez, castelão and touriga nacional. A smooth, accessible red wine that very distinctively retains the freshness and light tannin of the Dão. Therefore very suitable to drink with all kinds of savory snacks, lamb stew, soft cheeses and poultry.
