Why This Bottle?

This four-way collaboration between Lionheart Spirits, Boulder Spirits, The Victoria Whisky Festival and The Dram Association has finally been released! The Highland Games saw some amazing tasting events this weekend, and The Strath has some wonderful new exclusive whiskies to share in celebration of The Dram Association's 5th birthday. This one is the very first Strath Exclusive single cask bourbon, and we couldn't be more excited to share it with you. Boulder Spirits makes is probably the most Scottish inspired bourbon in the world. It's a full spec straight bourbon, ticking all of the boxes required such as 51% corn and asking strength of 62.5%. However, the mash bill is a whopping 44% malted barley, and it's distilled in Scottish build Forsyths copper pot stills. The result is a bourbon that is simply like no other, and this single cask edition is just one step more unique.

Strath Panel Tasting Notes

The initial nose gave us a wooden spoon full of ripe bananas and cloves. This powerful aroma later gave us a rich and nutty maple syrup - but not overly sweet. The palate, is predictably just as powerful, with more of the classic caramel vanilla notes. There's black cherry and eucalyptus with dried herb de Provence. Whilst this whisky is big and bold, it's more refined than the old leather and denim-clad cowboys that might come to mind. It's more the brazen red velvet capes and delicate silken robes of fairytale royalty.
