Mission Hill is Canada’s only five-time winner of Winery of the Year. The 2018 Reserve Chadonnay consists of floating flavours such as honey, pears, and glazed apple hazelnut turnovers with melon aromas lead to a balanced palate, that is both creamy and lively. Nicely woven and lengthy–a wine with true symmetry.

Rodney Strong’s 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon from Sonoma won a dazzling 95point placement with Decanter and is a powerful Cabernet Sauvignon from the hillsides of Alexander Valley. This wine has aromas of lush, red plum and dark berries that dominate the glass, while hints of cassis and milk chocolate play in the background. The dried fig and chewy tannins give this wine a strong backbone, while the 18 months of barrel aging have softened this bold wine just enough to enjoy immediately, or within the next five to seven years.

Marques de Riscal’s 2014 Rioja Reserva is an expressive Tempranillo from Rioja, Spain that received a 93 point placement from Master of Wine Tim Atkins, and Maeques de Riscal was rated #6 on the list of the World’s Best Vineyards of 2020. This wine is an intense black-cherry color with good depth of colour and hardly any signs of evolution. Very expressive aromas on the nose with notes of liquorice, cinnamon and black pepper, with just a subtle hint of the long cask-ageing, thanks to its great complexity and ripe, concentrated fruit. Fresh and easy to drink on the palate, good backbone and lovely, polished tannins. The long, persistent finish leaves gentle balsamic reminders of the finest quality.

Deep plum to cherry red in colour, the Quarisa Johnny Q 2015 Shiraz is a great wine from the Johnny Q series, the winery James Halliday was awarded a 4 Star rating. Its bouquet is full of intense and youthful fragrances of ripe berry, spice and pepper. The palate is dense with flavours of ripe mulberries, spicy oak and succulent tannins. This blend has a flavoured, structured and balanced profile to be enjoyed right away, and offers added satisfaction when cellared for some years.
