Kilchoman – BC Exclusive Rum Finish
Dram Association Tasting Notes
Split pea soup with ham. An odd initial nosing note – not at all unwelcome, just unexpected. It followed with a bouquet of overripe tropical fruits, perhaps about to be blended into a smoothie. Mangoes, pineapple, bananas and passionfruit. Then the smoke came rolling up and made its presence known.
The palate was all ash and fruit upfront. Mangos. So. Many. Mangos. The peat is stronger on the palate, and it’s joined by a sugary sweetness and an oak spice. It was very wood driven smoke, carried on a salty ocean breeze. Thumbs up.
